What's in the news?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-25000790
In BBC news there is a story on how an man was stabbed after disturbing three burglars who had broke into his house while his family was asleep. The themes that occurred in this story line is violence and crime which occur in British social realism. This because the man got stabbed  The setting that the plot takes place is in Luton, Welfield Avenue.  The protagonist in this story line is the family as they tried to find the killer. The family could not save the man but they was also able to call the police and the ambulance when this horrible situation happened. The police is then available to track down the burglars and then get them arrested for the trouble that they have caused. This can be used a British Social Realism story-line as there is a theme of violence. It can be also be put into my story as gang violence fighting someone else. I think this could work as a good idea as it show British social realism as it show the situation that take place often in Britain. It can be a story line that grabs the audience attention and be very dramatic and real at the same time.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2509874/Mothers-campaign-close-Ask-fm-daughter-Izzy-Dixs-suicide.html
In the Daily Mail online there has been lots of bulling reports going on recently. A mother campaigns to close Ask.fm after her daughter's suicide because of online abuse. The themes that are included in this story line is neglect because no one helped her. Corruption of youth because it made her kill herself and verbal abuse that she was effected by making her unhappy with what happened.  The location that the daughter killed herself in was in her home in Brixham. This shows that they could of been a working class family and this shows that these situations can happen to anyone of that age.The protagonist in the story-line is the mum as she is trying to make a stand against bullying. This could be a good story-line for my film as it would show what actually happening in everyday life so it would be British Social realism. Showing this in my film can make it be a effective story-line that can change the way people think about bullying online.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2511221/BREAKING-NEWS-Two-people-arrested-woman-rescued-house-allegedly-kept-slave-30-years.html

In the mail online there is a breaking news story about two people arrested after women was 'rescued' from a house after allegedly being kept as a slave for 30 years.
The themes that was included in this story line was violence , aspiration and escape as the women has longed to escape, crime, racistim, rebellion and discrimination as she was not treated how a human should be treated. The setting that she was trapped in was a house in South London. The protagonist that was in the film is the people who found her there and rescued her from the house. This could be a good story line to use for my film as I could show how life was for her living there for 30 years and how empty she would feel without her family. As it is a British social realism is can relate to a real life situation and show how the women would feel living her life there

Project Log - Week 7

This week I have look at different news papers and the news to see the crimes apt hat have been happening in Britian. This has help me with my story line as it would show the struggle that happens In Britian making my story line become more realistic. What came up a lot is a lot of young people that are getting murdered. This ideas could be used in my film but I would change the storyline to be a bit different to what people expect it to be. Also this week I have learnt what a protagonist was and the setting and themes that take place. From this I will add this into my film to make it more realistic and feel like a British social realism. I have thought of three different ideas of what my film could be about using what idea is best for my films.

Camera Work, Editing and Mise-en-scene In Opening sequence.

Here is a slide where I talked about the Camera Work, Editing and Mise-en-scene in the opening sequence Kes, Scum and Bullet boy.

Beachcombing for Inspiration

This type of area for my film as it shows the theme of poverty. The people there do not have much as it is a rundown estate. When someone lives there it shows that they are working class people and show that they only have simple and basic things in life. I think an area like this is effective and it brings out the struggles in someones life as what British social realism do. It would think about also place like chicken shops or fish and chips shops as they are not as expensive as other restaurants and they are basic.

There areas would also include graffiti with different gang names to shows it an area with lots of different types of gangs. Also as they have been messing up the streets with there graffiti work which could show poverty.

The type types of activities these people could be doing is teenagers like taking drugs and drinking a lot as it shows there struggles in society and that the young are up to no good.

I like the idea of people walking out of place like this. This will show that the person have be up to no good with the law. This lets the audience want to know why they was in a prison.

In the show top boy the characters in the show top boy. I think the way that they dress has inspired me for my film as it shows how people would dress who live in area that are run down and are of working class people.

Here is a video of the opening sequence of top boy. I think that it is effective a it show the establishing shot of what the area is like and how the people there live in it. I think it is effective as you see what goes on in area like that.

This song has inspired me as i think it would be a perfect type of song for a British social realism. It is upbeat and is a grime song. It is about getting money and about people being with their crews.
These are the types of clothing that I have been inspired by. This is because the clothing is cheap and they are not wearing much expensive clothing and everything is basic and worn out. The boy are dressed up in hoodies and girls have big hooped earnings looking like a chav.

The film shank has inspired me as it talks a lot about gangs and it involves the theme of violence.

I would include big clear typography to suit the theme of what I am taking about. This has inspired me as the credits are clear to see and it flows in with the opening sequence but it is not blocking the film at the same time

The actors that have inspired me is the young girl from London to Brighton. This is because the acting that she does seems very natural and it feels realistic

Project Log - Week 6

This week I have looked at the opening sequence of film and looked at the Camera Language, Editing and Mise-en-scene in the start of the opening sequence. The Mise-en-scene for these opening sequence is that the light is natural, the location a real, Simple and they are in working class locations. The Camera language used is hand held making the camera movement jerky. There is a lot medium and close ups of main characters in British Social realism. The editing conventions is that there is long take, there is simple or minimal editing that is being done also the editing is slow pace.
This will have an impact on my work as I will know where to shoot my film to make  it feel more like a British Social realism. The methods that I will use are the Camera being jerky to make you get the feel as if the film is realistic. There will not be much editing that will be taking place as there is not much in other British Social realism films. Looking at the opening sequence for these films the area do not seem to be very nice places so I will take that on board and use that for my opening sequence making it be shot in working areas. My actors will be very natural as they will be untrained. This will be bring more realism to my opening sequence as possible.
This week I have been looking at opening sequence for the films Scum, Bullet Boy and Kes where I saw all of the camera work, Editing and mise-en-scene take place

Production Log - Week 5

This week I have done a study on the film Fish tank. The film contained lots of themes including violence, corruption of youth,  poverty, sex and many more. All of these themes are very popular for a British and has influence my work as it is a realistic theme to talk about and it is very engaging for the person watching the film. I also found out how the representation of the characters are effective if they contrast how a typical person like them would act. For example in fish tank the mum is normally meant to be caring and there for her children but it felt like it was a twist as the mum wasn't there for them and neglected them. There area are real locations and that lighting in the scenes are natural to make it very natural. I also found out that the camera is normally hand held making that movement wobbly.
